"...this album squeezed into my top 15 of last year precisely because of its dark passions and passing moods.  With its "A five tune EP by the brilliant writer / producer / omni-ethnic alchemist Kip Hanrahan. Two (Still in Half Light)'s new treatment of the song from the leader's tour de force "Desire Develops an Edge", suspends Jack Bruce's hearty vocals and crafty phrasing in a resonant penumbra of hand / trap percussion and the bass triad of Bruce, Steve Swallow and Andy Gonzalez.  "Small Change" pits Hanrahan's vocals against varied percussion (three trap drummers / conga / checkere) and some nifty piano asides from New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint, who sparkles on Hanrahan's 1984 "Conjure" project.  DJs unfamiliar with Hanrahan's singular sounds should get on the stick."
